Further Information:
A large (around 60mm) species of African origin, and relatively new to the Maltese Islands (recorded in 2003; recorded as a breeding species in Gozo in 2004). An aggressive species, it is territorial and feeds on large insects such as butterflies, wasps and other dragonflies. Usually found near freshwater reservoirs and other large water bodies.
